A Work permit in Canada is required for most jobs in Canada. There are some exceptions when it comes to business people, investors, multinational companies, and countries with Canadian Trade Agreements.
Types of Work permits in Canada
There are two types of work permits in Canada:
Open Work Permits
Employer-Specific Work Permits
Open Work Permits
An open work permit allows you to work for any employer in Canada except for these exceptions:
- An ineligible employer who has failed to comply with the conditions.
- One who offers striptease, erotic dance or escort services.
Employer Specific Work Permits
These types of permits have the following criteria:
- Employer specific work permit.
- Have an allocated time validity.
- High wage & Low wage.
